Disgusted with Mt Hagen mongrels

The National, Tuesday 3rd January 2012

I AM dismayed to read about a teacher being stabbed over K200 in Mt Hagen (The National, Dec 29).
I am sad to say that Mt Hagen is the scariest place to go in the whole of Papua New Guinea.
I have been to other countries and their most notorious places pale in comparison to Mt Hagen.
Mt Hagen has never had a day when no one is robbed, bilum snatched or  people harassed.
Every day is a nightmare for someone in the hands of the Hagen central mongrels.
Whenever I go to the city, I take additional people with me for security reasons.
I split my money into small amounts in case someone picks my pocket
or holds me up.
I leave all my electronic gadgets and expensive items at home.
When I reach the city, I look to my sides and back every 10 seconds.
All my senses are alert and I am tense.
I go straight to where I have to go and get out fast.
I am never at ease and my blood pressure will go up.
I am afraid one of these days the adrenaline rush will give me a heart attack.
If there is an alternative place to go, I am happy not to step foot in Mt Hagen city.
I pray and hope that Jiwaka and Hela will not have law and order problems when they become provinces.
Many business houses, public and private sectors will be so happy to operate where there is peace and respect for common courtesy.
Many highlanders are looking at Jiwaka as the hub of the region.
The people of Jiwaka are very friendly, they have a beautiful valley and if the leaders play their cards right, I believe they can attract a lot of business and decent citizens.
The Hagen central mongrels are a nuisance and they give the city a negative image.
