THE Gazelle administration in East New Britain has allocated K200,000 towards a loan scheme to develop small-medium businesses, especially for women.
The Gazelle small-to-medium enterprise (SME) scheme comes under the East New Britain Savings and Loan Society.
District commerce coordinator Gogor Lui said the K200,000 was approved by the district development authority board to develop SMEs in the district especially for women.
Lui said the K200,000 loaned out last year had been paid back with an interest of K10,000.
He said they were giving priority to women who met the requirements such as a business plan, a financial literacy certificate, and being a member of the loan society.
He said K210,000 was now available to all women.
“The Lassul Baining and Inland Baining LLGs are leading with the highest number of SMEs.”
