PEOPLE of Yangoru-Saussia, East Sepik, will enjoy a banking service closer to home when Bank South Pacific opens a branch at the Yangoru station.
They usually spend K30 to travel to the bank in Wewak.
MP Richard Maru said the BSP branch at the Yangoru station should be opened in July.
At the moment, they have a rural branch which offers limited services to the district people and other districts such as Maprik, Angoram and Wewak.
BSP official Brenda Firomo said the branch’s clients should have reached 9,000 by now.
Firomo said on average, they opened 30 new accounts a day.
Maru said: “There is no need for you to spend money on PMVs to get to Wewak to find ATMs, make deposits and withdrawals as all these services would soon be available at the district.
“Even loans will be processed at Yangoru for those who wish to get personal or business loans.
“We have been working with BSP.”
