District farewells teachers

THE Kokopo education sector in East New Britain (ENB) farewelled a group of 44 teachers last Friday.
Education coordinator John Nelson said it was an annual practice for the district to acknowledge those that retired for their contribution and commitment to the education sector.
Nelson thanked the retired teachers for their service.
“We say thank you to you teachers,” he said.
“You are the mentors who have built Papua New Guinea and have taken the district to the next level and the kind of effort you have rendered we cannot repay but only our good Lord will bless you all.”
Nelson said the practice of farewelling retiring and departing teachers had started five years ago and included some of the group who had retired in 2017.
The group was sent off by other teachers and members of the district education office.
The teachers include 30 primary teachers, seven elementary teachers, six vocational teachers and a public servant.
ENB education adviser Alkan Mararang acknowledged the retiring teachers for their service.
