District gets K9 million for rural hospital

THE Government will provide K9 million under its health infrastructure programme for the redevelopment of the Maprik Rural Hospital in East Sepik.
Prime Minister Peter O’Neill revealed that during his visit to Maprik where he launched three major projects yesterday.
One of the projects is the redevelopment of the Maprik Rural Hospital.
The K9 million will complement the other K9 million from the Maprik district and provincial governments.
O’Neill said health was one of the basic but important service the government was focusing on.
He said his government’s vision was to see basic health services reaching the remotest parts of the country.
“This government in which your good MP John Simon is part of wants to bring better health and education services to the people,” O’Neill told the gathering at Maprik Hospital.
The redevelopment of the hospital is an impact project initiated by Simon and was included in the district’s five-year development plan.
The redevelopment of the hospital is in its first stage and will include the tendering of the project and construction.
