TAMBUL-Nebilyer MP Win Bakri Daki has allocated K46,000 to get his electorate out of the outcome-based education system.
The money will be used to conduct training and provide materials to do away with the outcome-based curriculum and replace it with standard-based curriculum.
Tambul-Nebilyer teachers were among 116 Western Highlands’ teachers who attended a week-long training at Holy Trinity Teachers’ College in Mt Hagen to start rolling out the standard-based curriculum in the third term.
“This is part of supporting my vision in education and I welcome SBC in my electorate,” Daki said.
“This curriculum will support children learning, starting at the elementary level and then to primary and secondary school.”
Western Highlands education division superintendent of operations Rose Johns thanked Daki for his support.
She said it would enable the standard-based curriculum to be rolled out.
Daki said education was his top priority and K1.2 million of his district services improvement programme funds had been allocated to it.
This is from the K2 million allocated so far by the Government.
Daki said K1 million was given to subsidise tertiary students’ fees while K200,000 was given to high and secondary schools in his district.
“Education is the fundamental of life,” he said.
