District growth falls short
The National, Friday 6th June 2014
HUON Gulf MP Ross Seymour says there has been no tangible development in the district in the past 25 years.
Seymour, a former businessman, told the Bush Kibung (provincial council meeting) at Boana station in Nawaeb, said that he observed this after conducting a week-long visit to the most isolated and rugged parts of the district.
“There is nothing to show for in the district for the last 25 years.
“I am sorry to say this but it is the fact,” he said.
Seymour said for example, the Morobe High School was run-down, had no water supply and the new buildings were not completed by the contractors. He said the problem was made worse when the district did not receive its full share of the K10million district services improvement programme funds for 2013. Seymour said the district and Bulolo had being operating on a credit basis to implement their development programmes.
He hopes that this will not be repeated this year.
