District supports new barracks

A NEW police barracks in Maprik, East Sepik, will be supported by the district development authority (DDA), Maprik MP John Simon says.
The project will include construction of 40 houses to accommodate police officers with K500,000 in district services improvement programme (DSIP) funds allocated for the groundwork,
The project is undergoing site clearance and construction for the first 15 three-bedroom staff houses will start.
Once completed, the new barracks will accommodate 60 police officers and a single quarters for new recruits.
East Sepik Governor Allan Bird also approved the building of a single accommodation for 20 officers and another in Wewak.
Maprik has also allocated K1million of its DSIP funds for the repair of feeder roads.
