District to benefit from power project
The National, Friday March 4th, 2016
People living at Boko and Kawa areas in the Kerowagi district of Chimbu will benefit from a rural electrification project funded by the Department of National Planning.
The department gave K3 million to the communities to build a technical vocational school (Tvet), the 13km road linking the national highway and the rural electrification programme.
The Simbu provincial government has counter funded the projects under its “Go long ples polisi” (Going rural policy).
Principal of JK Consultant John Kamb has described it as “a very big benefit” the people are receiving from the Government through it’s National Planning Department.
Kamb said the Tvet centre and the road were completed and electricity would be connected to the village.
“This is the way forward and my people are privileged to benefit straight from the Government,” Kamb said.
“More than 15,000 people are happy for these services which they have been crying for years.”
He said that basic services were the key areas that would help people to change their attitudes.
“People back in the rural areas are willing to participate in the developments,” he said.
