THE Morobe provincial AIDS committee is holding a workshop in Lae to address the coordination and management of the epidemic in the province.
The three-day meeting, which ends today, involves delegates from the National AIDS Council Secretariat in Port Moresby, non-governmental organisations and representatives from districts in Morobe.
Apart from exchange of information, lessons and experiences on HIV/AIDS, strategies for resource mobilisation, effective implementation of programme and activities and strengthening of reporting systems were discussed.
The meeting looked at the national HIV-AIDS strategic plan 2011-15, with all districts presenting their local level government and ward area profiles and coverage.
The provincial AIDS committee in Morobe aims to begin reversing the spread of HIV/AIDS by 2015, reduce the spread by no more than 1% and ensure that no child is born with HIV by then.
All participating agencies, including government, plan to work together to ensure this is a plausible outcome.
