Districts told to submit acquittals

DISTRICTS have been urged to submit their acquittals before they are allocated any more funds.
Department of Implementation and Rural Development (DIRD) deputy secretary Andrew Livingston, who received the Nawaeb district acquittals for 2017 and 2018, said there were still some districts yet to submit theirs.
“All the monitoring processes for these funds now come under the DIRD and we expect you to report to us on how you spend these funds,” Livingstone said.
“There are prerequisites for these funds, there must be a five-year development plan, your budget and must be approved by the district development authority (DDA) before it comes to us.
“There must be resolutions from the DDA approving whatever funding that is to be used.”
Livingstone said some funds were released to districts this year even if they had not acquitted and the districts were expected to provide them.
“We will be strict with the prerequisites; if you meet your part in acquitting, we will release the funds.”
