THE New Ireland education division is taking stringent measures on cases of sexual abuse, sexual relationships between teachers and students and extra marital affairs between teachers in schools and the provincial education office.
Provincial education adviser Andrew Kaiap said yesterday he released a circular titled “Zero Tolerance on Sexual Abuse and sexual relationships between teachers and students and extra marital affairs between teachers” on May 16 to ensure that anyone found guilty would be dealt with.
He said that included inspectors, school inspectors and teachers.
He said the province was facing a few problems of teachers and students having sexual relationships.
The education office was now getting reports of such cases and action was being taken on.
