SIMBU provincial division of Education became the 11th provincial division of education to introduce the Alesco Payroll System (APS) to its Human Resource system in the province on Oct 15.

The APS was accepted by the Simbu provincial administration and provincial division of Education during a special gathering held in Chimbu.

In 1997, the APS was piloted at the Chimbu education division.

This period allowed all the decentralisation of the teachers’ professional files to Chimbu of which, personnel matters  were raised, recorded and archieved at the provincial level, while copies of documentations were sent to Waigani for processing.

In thanking the Education Department for introducing the APS to the province, provincial education adviser, Walkaima Essy announced that he was very fortunate to be alive to witness the system introduced.

For now, he encouraged the six staff salaries officers of Chimbu division of education to use the system appropriately and serve the teachers well, but warned the staff not to abuse it.

Essy cautioned teachers to remain in the classroom to teach the students and must avoid leaving the school unnecessarily as their salaries could be deducted instantly at his office.

The Alesco system would be readily available to provide efficient service to the 2,891 teachers in elementary, primary, secondary and vocational teachers in Chimbu.
