Do not relax lockdown

Letters

DURING this lockdown, I see people hanging around the streets, cars are still running around like it is business as usual.
Is this a joke?
All the cities around the world have become ghost towns because of Covid-19.
Even a doctor is saying we should not panic because there are no deaths from Covid-19 and comparing this with the measles outbreak in 2014.
It cannot be compared.
Measles has proven vaccines that fight the disease, Covid-19 does not.
There are asymptomatic Covid-19 carriers, meaning they do not show any symptoms during the incubation period of 14 days.
They could approach a lot of people, spreading the virus without being aware that they are the carriers.
Furthermore, PNG has no testing kits as we speak, with all current tests conducted in Australia.
We could have hundreds of probable cases with no way in testing them.
Is the Government going to wait until we are dropping dead like flies before they realise they have a crisis on their hands.
It is not time to relax the lockdown, but rather upgrade to stage 4, complete restriction on all activities except for essential services such as hospitals and clinics, pharmacies and supermarkets only.
It is time for the Government to take this issue seriously, rather than continue with this wishy-washy lockdown or contemplating relaxing restrictions.
