Do we appreciate independence?

Letters

IT is said to see that most Papua New Guineans I come across to can easily sell our country for personal gain. Maybe because we haven’t shed blood to be independent, we think we can easily sell our country for personal gain.
Pieces of our country are being sold everyday through compromising moral values, poor ethical standards, and corruption.
The personal conviction to be a proud Papua New Guinean is what matters over the pretence to be proud because your neighbour is.
We should look into our hearts and ask ourselves if we really appreciate being independent.
Those who are happy to sell their country for personal gain should study other countries who have got their independence through wars and suffering.
Be appreciative.
