NEW team, Taurama Suns put up an impressive performance on Saturday only to go down by four goals to an experienced Dockers in Round 4 of the Port Moresby AFL competition at Murray Barracks oval.

The Dockers, boasting the experience of Stanis Isu, Sebby Gelu and Emmanuel Tupia proved too strong and walked away with a polished 11.5 (71) – 7.5 (47) victory.

The Suns kicked exploded in the first quarter snapping three consecutive goals against the wind to level the scores at 18-18.

The Suns added two more goals and four behinds in the second quarter to take a handy 8-point lead into half-time.

The Dockers only managed a goal and two behinds against the wind as the Suns midfielders led by Jayjay Lauta put up an effective cordon to restrict Dockers from stringing possessions together.

The Suns fighting spirit was matched in the third quarter when the Dockers shifted sharp shooter Isu to his usual centre-half-forward position.

Isu’s presence in the Dockers forward line proved too much for young Taurama defenders as the Dockers belted home four goals and two behinds while the Suns capitulated with a lone behind.

The Dockers continued to show no mercy in the final quarter and booted three goals and a behind to walk off with the win as the Suns managed two consolation goals to round out the scoring.

In the main match, Gulf Isapea Giants, led by Peter Milaura edged a strong Defence Hawks 9.7 (61) – 6.3 (39).
