GOROKA-based private practitioner Dr Susan Kongri Apa has denied receiving financial assistance from the Goroka Base Hospital to start her businesses when her husband was the chief executive officer
“I strongly condemned the continuous character assassination by certain Goroka hospital staff on my husband, Dr Joseph Apa, who is the current acting director curative health services in the new Eastern Highlands health authority,” she said recently.
“I was a former clinical medical superintendent at the Goroka Base Hospital and left the public service to go into business and have since been operating a private medical practice in Goroka besides a real estate and hire car business.
“The public service general orders forbid public servants from conducting business and for that reason, I resigned as I wanted to go into business.
“My business has nothing to do with issues facing the hospital.”
Apa claimed the same people who were at the hospital when she resigned to go into business were still making unfounded allegations against her and her family.
“If people really want to help the hospital, they should check their facts with all relevant authorities with the Department of Health.”
