THE Papua New Guinea Hunters left for Brisbane yesterday for their Round 17 clash against the ninth-placed Redcliffe Dolphins.

Aiming for 10 wins on the trot, the SP-sponsored side is aiming for a new club record and with an unchanged line-up from last weekend.

Marum, pictured, believes his men’s focus is on this despite having 13 of the side in the Pacific Games 9s team.

The last time the Hunters met the Dolphins was in Round 2 this year at Kalabond Oval in Kokopo, where the Hunters edged the visitors 30-26.

The Dolphins’ convincing 32-20 win over the Norths Devil last weekend was noticed by Marum, who said earlier this week that his staff would analyse the video off the opposition and work out a plan to beat the Dolphins.

Redcliffe are far do not have a good record at home since they started the season and with eight more games before the top five is finalised for the finals, the team will be aiming to end PNG’s winning streak.

The Hunters backline made up of Thompson Teteh, Adex Wera, Noel Zeming, Stargroth Amean and David Lapua will be hoping to continue their good form from last week which helped them to a 68-4 mauling of the Capras at Kalabond Oval.

Having a bye next weekend, the Hunters backline — apart from Lapua — will not have the opportunity to rest as they have national duties in the Pacific Games and the match on Sunday will be a good test for them to finish off the set plays called by Wartovo Puara and halves Israel Eliab and Ase Boas.

Second-rower Kato Ottio will miss this game but the 24-year-old will join the national nines side which assembles on Monday.
