Don’t leave out Morata 4
The National – Friday, October 28th 2011
IT is now 20 years since the first settlers moved into Morata 4 back in 1991.
Until now, the only visible development is the lighting up of the street which was initiated and constructed by the community itself.
It is the only alcohol-free community in Morata and has a well-organised mothers group that clean and plant flowers along the street regularly.
But the maintenance came to a halt because of negligence from the respective authority.
The NCD governor, in many of his visits, has expressed admiration on how the community was organised but development initiatives and projects by NCDC have yet to reach this part of Morata.
It does not have water supply, electricity and a proper road.
There are many public servants and those from the private sectors residing in Morata 4 and they are taxpayers.
They have contributed to the development of the city but have been unfairly treated for 20 years.
I call on the NCD governor to listen to the cries of the grassroots people.
