Don’t be fooled, vote wisely

Letters

SINCE independence, bribery and the “dirty money” games have always been at the center of elections in PNG.
The poor man is always conned and lured with a K50 or K100 and forgets his child’s future.
We are conned and fooled, blindfolded and brainwashed with the money and give away the mandate to thugs and thieves who do nothing but relax away in their comfort zones in the next five years while the average village man breaks his back out looking for money to pay his child’s project fees at school, while an innocent mother walks long distances to access the nearest health center to give birth.
Can we change the status quo this time?
As polling in this beautiful country is in place, uncalled people so desperate of power will be at their best to solicit votes with money.
Before you foolishly give in to this evil snare at the cost of your future and your children’s future, take a moment to think.
Will that money last for the next five years?
Will that person deliver services?
Does he have the qualities of a God-fearing and honest leader?
Don’t be blinded by the luring colour of the money!
Think about how the state of things will be in the next five years in terms of development in sectors like, education, health, economy, infrastructure etc.
It is time we think outside the box.
It is time we make informed and wise decisions that will, of course, make a difference going forward.
As Roald Dahl once put it: “Somewhere inside of all of us is the power to change the world.”
If we continue to accept bribes and sell our future for money and gifts, who will make the change?
Will it be our children or their children’s children?
Let us break this yolk of tribal connection and bribery in electing our parliamentarians.
Let’s vote for the right person.
Let’s vote for a person of the leadership caliber of Nelson Mandela who forgets about himself and fights for his people, lets mandate someone like King Martin Luther who makes the cries of his people known.
Let’s change the status quo by electing God-fearing leaders into this parliament.
