THE Madang administration stated that it supports the proposed multi-billion kina shopping mall and high rise hotels development.
Provincial administrator Daniel Aloi said the investment had the unanimous support of the provincial government.
One of the pieces of land earmarked for this development is the Yabong Park, an open park used mainly by the Madang Softball Association, BSP School Cricket and the touch rugby.
Should these investments go ahead, where is the alternate field or park for these sporting codes?
The administrator went further to say that the sports played on the field were those enjoyed by non Madang people and Sir Donald Cleland Park was a haven
for youths involved in illicit activities.
This statement by the administrator is discriminatory and shows a lack of leadership and planning from the top public servant of the province.
This shows that Aloi and his administration do not have plans
for sports and youths in the province.
It also shows that even if the land is alleged to have been acquired illegally, it is still alright by the Madang government.
Mr Administrator, you have lost focus and are blinded by the greed of money.
The youths and sports people will surfer for the next so many years in having access to quality paying field.
Do you realise that sports can be used as a tool for development in which the youths will enjoy?
Administrator, you have failed the sports men and women and the youths of this province
