Don’t risk paying online

Letters

EDA Ranu provides water supply and distribution and sewerage services, which are most valuable and vital for the city of Port Moresby and its inhabitants, as well as supply water to the Motuan villages nearby.
The billing system and online payment system that Eda Ranu is using now is susceptible to criminal exploitation.
Water users and payers must now take heed of this.
I was issued an online bill and was asked to pay it at Eda Ranu’s office in Gordon or pay my bill online.
I chose to pay my bill online, which I did in full, and requested Eda Ranu to send me a receipt.
The receipt, however, was not sent to me electronically for some time.
It was emailed to me after I lodged an online complaint.
However, the receipt showed an amount of about K50 outstanding.
I was shocked, as I had already settled the full amount of the invoice online.
I enquired online as to how this has happened, but Eda Ranu has not responded to my query to-date.
I had no choice but to go back to Eda Ranu’s Gordon office, and to my surprise, the K50 outstanding bill was still showing in their billing system.
I fully settled it and walked away quietly but with anger, disappointment, and frustration; I paid an extra K50 for nothing.
Water users and rate payers, please take note of this Eda Ranu scam and pay in person at the Gordon office.
