Door open to move motion: PM

PRIME Minister James Marape says the door is still open to the Opposition to move a motion of no confidence against him “when parliament resumes in April 2021”.
“That is an opportune time for them to introduce the motion of no confidence,” he said.
“I would have played nasty and asked the leader of government business to push parliament to a safer time when no motion of no confidence can be moved after July 30, 2021.
“We are not stupid.”
Parliament approved a motion during Tuesday’s sitting attended by 50 MPs all from Government to adjourn to April. The Opposition had moved and passed last Friday to adjourn Parliament to Dec 1.
But it was changed at Tuesday’s sitting.
Marape said the reason it was adjourned to April was to allow programmes earmarked for 2021 to start.
“The first few months in 2021 will be safe. We will start key programmes we envisioned to do in the 2021 budget,” he said.
“2021 is an important year of preparation for the 2022 national election.
“We need to conduct our national census, our common roll updates.
“We need to ensure a possible biometric system is introduced,” Marape said.
“From early January, we are ensuring that schools start on time.”
He said politics would not stop the executive government from functioning.
“We are in the business of retiring the 2020 supplementary budget.”

  • 2021 is the year of recovery – Job creation for citizens who lost there jobs and also a handful of graduates job searching for the past donkey years should be a vital program.
Or are you interested in your own job creation thinking about 2022 elections already?

  • November is the month of handing down 2021 budget. Think of 8mil people. You may play your games after the 2021 budget is secured. Next year is very important year. Namah and O’Neil should not play around with the time when we have the big challenge the covid 19 pandemic, crippling the global economy. Put the interest of 8mil people and your fore front. PM JM, well done. It must be the will of the Lord.

  • Belden Namah and Peter Oneill with their cronies doing what they do best – overthrowing governments for their own interest.

Give PMJM and his government a chance to deliver and I believe they will do so by serving the interest of 10 million citizens at heart.

  • Firstly, I thank this news paper for the news.

PNG has a responsible PM and government. I have said this many times before in this forum. This PM and his government priorities work to be implemented in order to save the sinking ship. Reason out carefully and you will understand the wisdom the PM and his government is using.

A government that truly serves this country’s interest and upholds the fundamental principle of democracy. While it priorities for implementations of important programs in the year 2021 to keep PNG as a country moving forward, the government has also given room to the opposition to introduce the motion of no confidence against the government by not moving the next parliament sitting to a safer date (where opposition would not be able to introduce the motion of no confidence).

From the very beginning, I believe in this government under PMJP to take back PNG from corruption, from foreign double dipping without shame, from selfish few elites who have been hiding behind the agenda of “People’s Interest” to rob this country and its people for so long.

    • I disagree. While I respect JM, there has been no development projects in the country. In fact projects were and are closing down. No economic growth. Unemployment on the rise

  • “We should be thankful for a wise leader like JM, why arguing for pride and boast?” We are Christians, isn’t God’s Spirit with him? let him serve longer and see.

  • Politicians are becoming rivals in the Parliament. What’s all this rivalry and challenge.
You have the lives of 8million people at stake.
Please work together collectively and pursue the interest of the people.
The people are suffering because if this rivalry

United PNG. Set aside your differences and ego and work together

  • PMJM our prayers are always with you. When we’re for God..who can be against us? Tingim story blg David na Goliath…don’t worry about all the court cases..Heads Ministers and Government benches,, do your duties. Service you people with dignity and a good heart to please God and not men and women. Fear God alone not court cases.

  • What about 4,000 plus citizens left jobless from PJV saga? Not forgetting they have families and dependents. Basic neccesities are a challenge for them. They are now leaving on there Nasfund. How can the government suffer his own people?? Can the PM please fix these already. If the Government is for the people how can this carry one like these? Too much grandstanding and fighting over power when your very own people are suffering!

  • Country man are we arguing because of our conscious or unconscious biases?

Let’s be realistic, these bunches of politicians and those before them are sailing us as a country without a compass.
They keep on fighting for their own interests than the interests of our Nation
    It saddens me

  • I can not understand why some pray for one set of crooks but despise a second group of crooks.
Aren’t we suppose to pray for all crooks so they change.
Marape is a wolf in sheep’s skin. Now he accommodates crooks in his fold.
Everyone has their opinion on PO as well.

  • Let the opposition cry as long as it takes. PMJM, keep doing what you do becoz the country doesn’t need politics at this time.

  • I say fuck them all. They are all crooks….careful and calculating they are in their attempts to safeguard their own backyards in order to grasp power or continue to stay in power, depending on which side they are in. Great pretenders and comical players of the era of politics in this country. All wolves in sheep’s skin, as they say. When will PNG get a group of MPs and a saint-like PM all focused on the good of PNG and its country?

  • Oppositions are moving around like yoyo only to gratify their selfishness. These are bunch of thieves and robbers who have being robbing this country over the last years and build their empires already and still looking for more and suffer the whole nation. If they are there to to serve the interest of the people they are representing then they would have remain faithfully with marape to fight corruption and set the country in order.
Remember that Marape is in the Government for only 18 months and not 18 years. How can we expect a human being to perform miracle’s for this nation when all the leaders are divided and not united for a common cause.
LOOK at those puppets dictated by their blind leaders. What a disgrace.

  • Ol camp lo Vanimo em ol BLIND LEADING THE BLIND. Voters come 2022, vote them ALL out. Ol nogat tingting long ol voters blo ol.
