DEFENDING champions Doria will be aiming to win back-to-back titles when they face off with Houra in Tatana open men’s grand final tomorrow.
Tatana Araira’ Amateur Volleyball Association players fresh from the national volleyball championships will again be involved with their village clubs for the finals.
Doria who defeated Houra 3-1 in the final last year will be relying on setter Bobby Batari and spikers Freddy Noah and Bobby Rarua to stop Houra from taking the crown.
Houra will have setter Billy Anton who won the U21 most valuable player award at the national championships controlling their traffic.
Kato Ben Ottio who also won the U21 best blocker award will be out to stop any spikes that come across the net from Doria.
Anton and Ottio who were part of the winning U21 Tatana men’s team that beat VAVA will be relied on heavily with Nigel Aiio to stop Doria dominate.
Aiio will be facing off with team mates Noah, Rarua and Batari who he played with in their grand final loss to VAVA in the open men’s.
In the Open Women’s, Houra will face off with Doria with the 2010 runner-ups Houra looking to win back the shield they held for four years.
Current PNG Pepes Marie Ottio who has played in Houra’s six grand final appearances know the pressure about playing in the finals.
“It will be good to win the title again after winning it in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009,” said the 22-year-old.
“We lost only two grand final in 2008 and 2010, Dirty Mix beat us 3-1 to win last years grand final.
“Our preparations have been good and we are looking forward to playing Doria,” Ottio said.
In the A reserve  final Doria will face off with K. Kone.
while in the U21 Boys Doria will meet K.Kone and Nadis will play K.Kone in the U21 Girls grand final.
