Double pay for police officers

WHILE I appreciate the risk associated with the duties of police officers, I see that it has now become a norm where police officers, whether on shift or not, to be paid allowances before being called out for any special operations.

I do not agree with such system where regular police officers on shift are paid double apart from their normal fortnightly pay with the exception of police mobile squad units.

Though  the  system used  here  is just like paying overtime (OT) to employees working extra, why pay double to the officers who  are on their normal shifts during such operations?

Taxpayers are sweating their guts out to pay government tax, so  there  needs to be some changes done for a transparent and accountable system to be used in the Police Department to avoid such payments to officers.
