BUYING a house has been a dream come true for many Bank of South Pacific customers who are taking advantage of its first home ownership scheme.
Vagi Kulu-Manek, a BSP customer for 20 years, said she was encouraged to see Papua New Guineans owning a dwelling they could call home.
“This is a lifetime asset for you, your children and the future. It is a milestone achievement,” she said.
The scheme is a loan offered by BSP to first-time home-buyers.
Through its partnerships with the Government, BSP had been able to offer loans to interested individuals.
Linzy Tonnaku from Bougainville said: “The thing that really stands out for me in this experience is that you do not have to be a millionaire to purchase your home. Anything is possible. You just have to commit your time, manage your money well and you will own your own home.”
A BSP customer in Western Highlands Maggie Kuli who recently moved into her own home was happy with the bank’s loan conditions.
“It is with great satisfaction that I have my own house. A place to rest. No more rentals and moving from house to house,” Kuli said.
“I really appreciate BSP for making available this loan facility to assist the average Papua New Guinean to own a home, where the requirements are affordable.”
The initiative between BSP and the Government aims to address housing problems in the country by allowing individuals to have the capacity to own affordable houses.
