Drive carefully on highways

I WRITE with tears and a heavy heart for the relatives of those nine victims of Bundi who tragically lost their lives the Imbrum River (Nov 2).

This accident is one of the worst disasters to have happened to our people since the fatal Twin Otter plane crashed at Bundi station.

I appeal to my fellow Gendes and others who may wish to travel this section of the Chimbu to Madang highway that every possible precautionary measure should be taken into account before travelling.

To make matters worse, this part of the highway is unsafe and very risky to travel especially when it is raining because the road is often slippery and compounded with many sharp bends.

So please take absolute care and ensure all vehicles are fully serviced, roadworthy and in good running conditions before travelling.

My deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the families and relatives of the victims.
