A COMPANY manager accused of driving a motor vehicle without due care and attention causing serious injuries to the driver of another vehicle, told the Waigani Court that he lost control when he crossed the lane median and collided with an oncoming vehicle.
Kuman Titus, of Kolgpeng, Western Highlands told the court this week he was driving a Ford Ranger double-cab utility Reg No. BBQ634 on the inside lane along the Poreporena Freeway in the National Capital District.
He said he was travelling at 60km/h from town to Konedobu when he crossed over the median or concrete slab and crashed into a vehicle belonging to Coca-Cola.
Titus said he had avoided colliding with another vehicle in front of him when he crossed over the concrete slab when the accident occurred on July 12.
He told the hearing before magistrate Rosemary Koimo on Monday that he had no option but cross for safety when badly injuring  Coca-Cola courier driver Ruben Ilaitia.
