THE driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal accident in Morobe about two weeks ago was charged by Lae police yesterday.
Luke Parker, 29, from Sikam village in Kabwum, Morobe, was charged with dangerous driving causing death, police said.
Acting Lae Met Supt Insp Timothy Pomoso told The National yesterday that police were looking at pressing additional charges which may include driving under the influence of liquor.
Eight people died in the accident on Jan 13, between 5am and 6am, along the Lae-Nadzab Road near Nasuapum village.
“It has taken us (police) a while but we managed to arrest the driver of the five-door vehicle who (allegedly) caused the accident,” Pomoso said.
“He is detained at the Lae Central Police Station cell and will appear in court this Friday.”
