Driver released

A MAN charged with reckless driving causing the death of a 14-year-old boy has been freed after police failed to present its investigation files to the court.
Lae Committal Court Magistrate Pious Tapil made the decision on Monday in the case of, Joe Apa, 42, from Kongmul village in Tambul, Western Highlands.
However, Tapil told the prosecution to inform the arresting officer to complete the police file so that Apa could be re-arrested and brought before the court.
Police alleged that last Nov 17, Apa drove a bus towards Eriku from Kamkumung along Independence Drive and hit the boy on the road side.
The court also heard that the victim was admitted to Angau General Memorial Hospital after sustaining a serious head injury.
