Drivers must drive carefully

Letters, Normal

I AM six years old and I am very angry when I saw a taxi driver driving straight into a small cement block put up to keep the people out of the fountain at the 5-Mile roundabout.
He knocked it down and came close to smashing the fountain.
He did not seem bothered that he had destroyed a public property as after checking that his taxi was not damaged, he coolly drove off.
The security guards on duty did not even lift a finger to prevent him from driving away.
It is sad that while NCD Governor Powes Parkop is doing everything to keep the city beautiful and safe, some people do not seem to care.
Some drivers are just not bothered with the safety of other road users.
I lost my best school mate when he was hit by a taxi driver near SVS this year.
I urge drivers to drive safely as I do not want to lose all my school friends who walk to school.
