OKAPA MP, Isaac Waigavara and the Okapa district administration should use District Support Improvement Programme grants for the development of Okapa district only.

We believe that an entourage with connections to district officials travelled to Port Moresby to watch the Digicel Cups final between the Goroka Lahanis and Port Moresby Vipers.

We are wondering where the money came from.

The district funds are meant for essential public goods and services like maintaining feeder roads in the district, maintaining the rundown Okapa health centre and constructing water supply to Okapa station and putting a stop to public servants fetching dirty water from a muddy creek within the station area known as “connections”.

Also, it is worth building a national or secondary high school in Okapa district because early this year, quite a number of Grade 10 students from Invingoi and Okapa high schools who scored distinctions and credits were not selected to national or secondary high schools maybe because the secondary schools in other districts of the province gave priority to students from their own districts.
