DULUX are preparing for their seventh appearance in the Lae Corporate Touch Association competition finals this weekend at Amelia Park where three of their teams will vying for major honours.
Club captain James Maim said two of their men’s and mixed teams were aiming to retain the title in their respective divisions.
He said due to Coronavirus (Covid-19) measures, the competition had been suspended for three weeks prior to the finals.
“This season has been challenging and tough but we’re doing well,” Maim told The National.
“Most of our players are primary and secondary school students residing at Bumbu settlement.
“We have continued our premiership record since the club’s 2015 inception, formerly under Wascom (changed to Dulux in 2019).
“Last season was disrupted by Covid-19.
“So we are looking forward to defending our premiership title from 2019.
“Our preparations for the finals have been focused on teamwork and to play the finals like any other game we’ve played.”
Dulux’s mixed team will meet Jetsmart Crushers while their men’s grand finalists will standby for the winner of the semifinal between Nomads and Jetsmart Crushers.
Their junior team will battle Lunaman in the grand final.
Maim said they were anticipating tough matches this weekend.
