Duma denies reported allegations

TRADE and Commerce Minister William Duma has denied allegations of corruption made against him by Australia’s Financial Review.
Duma told Parliament yesterday that “the report was based on half-truths, accusations and was defamatory”.
A report in the magazine linked Duma to the Horizon scandal, alleging that the company had ignored “corruption warnings” and paid a shell company US $10.3 million, (about K34.4mil) 10 years ago when Duma was the Petroleum and Energy Minister.
However, Duma said under the Oil and Gas Act, the minister responsible only acted on the recommendations made by the Petroleum Advisory Board.
“The Financial Review has made some very serious allegations against me for decisions that I made 10 years ago as the State Minister for Petroleum and Energy,” Duma said
“However, anything to do with petroleum prospecting, potential and/or development licence, the decision is always made by the board.
“I followed every step of the way under the law of this country, the Oil and Gas Act,” he said.
Duma said that he had taken a long time to make a response as the allegations were from 10 years ago and he needed time to get documents from back then to clear his name.
He is expected to hold a press conference today after Parliament.

  • Yes then come good with the other half truth to save face instead of painting this country negatively

  • That’s right William Duma tell png about the 50% true and 50% lies that you had done while being the minister responsible 10 years ago. You pretended to forget but infact you knew exactly what happened……As if you were dreaming…..Australians don’t lie, they will reveal the truth with facts and figures and you will have no place to hide.

  • Duma you are full of lies..If it weren’t for the manu manu land deal we would have believed you.
The Australian Financial review report is correct.

  • The PM should suspend him immediately pending investigations, he is not suppose hold any office until cleared. He can’t try to deny the allegations and by holding a press conference doesn’t justify anything.

  • Ten years ago and you can run.PNG has no records but Australia has it,As long as PM Marape is on anthing of that long will be uncovered just like yesterday.

  • In all fairness , a detail investigation must be carried by fraud squad and OC to validate Mr Duma’s claim.

  • reports was based on half truth back 10 years ago so we are human being we need time to figure it after we will go through the documents back to prove the financial report by Australian financial review.just give Mr.Duma time to sort out first.you did not see the truth yet.

  • May be he became the Hagen MP through dubious means. In NATEL 12 or 17 an SF commander informed me that coffee gardens were used to fill in blank ballot papers in Duma’s name.
