COMMERCE and Industry Minister William Duma says the shocking shift by a group of Government MPs to the Opposition in Parliament on Friday caused him to unconsciously move as well.
“I was shocked and surprised when there was an exodus of ministers crossing Parliament to join the Opposition,” he said.
“It was not an intentional move. Later as the dust settled, I began to realise that I made a wrong move and rejoined the Government.
“What I had experienced is the same for other Government MPs who went and joined the Opposition.
“The move by Opposition Leader Belden Namah was a shock to many of us and we were caught by surprise.
“It’s best that all the MPs read and understand the Organic Law and the Parliamentary Standing Orders. The Organic Law is there. But we MPs fooled ourselves.
“So the Speaker Job Pomat did the right thing to recall Parliament today to pass the 2021 Budget.
“And he will not be sent to jail for correcting this mistake that occurred on Friday.
“But all in all, this budget must reach the people. We work with bureaucrats on this budget.
“So we can’t wait till December or next year to pass it. Such practice does not happen anywhere. We have not broken any law.
“But what we did in Parliament today can be questioned in court.
“After-all, what we did on Friday was wrong so today we just undid the wrong.”
However, on Friday when Duma was with the Opposition, he said a reason he left Government was to join like-minded leaders to close deals on major projects such as the Papua LNG and Porgera gold mine.

  • Be man enough to make decision on your own as an MP and a leader, rather than a follower.
    Deals on major projects must be closed properly and not in a rush or hurry that will make the people suffer in the long term. PMJM is doing the right thing here.
    Please don’t lose faith and hope in PMJM. God is with him. The majority of the country’s population are with him (PMJM). If you’re with him (PMJM), you’re with God and all the people of PNG.

Two laws must be fulfilled: i.e The law of “The year of jubilee’ Lev. 25 and the law of “GLEANING” in PNG … simply our resources must come.back to PNG and the resouces developers must leave the Gleanings behind for the poor and needy – THE SOVERIGN PEOPLE OF THE LAND. James seems to understand this laws from the bible AND HE IS DOING WHAT HE IS DOING. give him time to prove himself …guys..PO and BM

  • Another very experience MP who lack wisdom and simply move around as a yo-yo,doesn’t even know what to do and later on confess to the people of PNG on his stance,shame on you William Duma….. we PNG people are with this current government.

  • Shame on you William Duma, you are fooling yourself. Papua New Guineans are not blind, deaf or dumb. Don’t throw yourself like fish caught on a floor balls. Make decisions as respected man in your district and community.

  • Ol lo lain, very unfortunate for him, ICAC has just been passed.., William Duma is worse of them on the list for investigation on corruption.

    He is looking for safe haven to hide himself from prosecution.

  • Boy oh boy, this rump of a government has some of the ugliest and most unhealthy looking men on the planet, but I must admit they were real smart in pulling one over on the deluded opposition. I hope they can use some of their crooked, sneaky wisdom to improve the economy of the country!

  • I like the heart JMPM have. He’s not quick to judge thereof, proceeds to unleash members with portfolios. Hi arms still open welcoming those moved blindly but later understood what JM government is all about. We can’t just judge William Duma on his past leadership, he may have changed overtime and through the holistic approaches of JM government will have greater impact to other leaders as well. However, all in all we’ll still have JM reign in this remaining months till April 2021. I salute you JM.

  • How can a senior parliamentarian like Duma comes out and say that he does not understand the Organic Law and the Parliamentary Standing Orders after all these years in parliament. He simply is looking for something else…

  • And here we have another example of ‘the blind leading the blind’.. What is it? 4 terms you (WD) have been in parliament and yet you wok lo fau, faul stap?? Come on WD, too bad you have your name and integrity already tarnished over these past 4 terms or so. Its time for a real positive change in Hagen -central. Back to you Kanges in 2022 NGE.

  • Can’t fooled. He knows exactly what he was doing. Vanimo camp did not consider him as alternate PM so he returned to PMJM with his six MPs.

  • There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. PMJM will never be shaken by little brains who are unstable in their mind which has reflected shamefully. It is foolishness to use the word “like-minded” for wrong intentions especially if you are someone the country looked up to as an intellectual and leader.

  • It’s funny about what Duma says, He’s got strings attached to him so he thought the opposition was going to take over the house by him and his fellow ministers crossing the floor on Friday but they were just cowards just being fooled by a dreamer so to save himself he has to be with the government of the day so this time the situation has shown to the people of Hagen Central and PNG that guys like Duma lacks the Qualities of being a bold leader. PMJM take note of guys like him and it’s better not to offer them Ministerial Portfolios cause they will mislead and mismanage ……

  • MPJM will still have this position in no matter what because we PNGans saw what JM do to take back PNG and also God knows who JM is, God chosen PM. JM will take take his seat back.

  • I am also of the view that William Duma returned to the government side because the opposition team did not consider him as the alternate PM. OMG! how lucky, we cant afford to have such a corrupt person to be our PM, NO WAY! For the good of you Hagen Central people, you need to somehow replace this highly corrupt person come 2022.

  • WD clearly explains himself as a top “yoyo politician” and displayed it very well. In the first Laguna camp, Marape pushed WD out of the bus when he was trying to Join him and he joined the opposition. Then he moved back when Marape became prime minister and recently joined the exodus to opposition. Now he is back standing behind Marape. Being a lawyer, he should know the basics of lawful parliamentary processes but he has perfectly displayed “political prostitute & yoyo politician” . Is he a national leader to be given a portfolio or being misled by his unconscious move?

  • Someone is now running around like a chicken with no head he know very well that sooner later he’ll be caught up and drawn into the hot water….the Manumanu land deal is becoming hot and bitter again the blight of him loosing his pride and dignity is eloquent to every individual and the nation.   • By this time those who keep abreast with what the politicians have been doing and sadly continue to do know very well who WD is. His track record is nothing to be proud of. Ask those from his own electorate and you will know who he is. Unfortunately for him nothing good is said about him. Most have hanged the big letter “C” around his neck. That’s not a good thing if it’s coming from your own people. As the saying goes ‘ you can’t teach an old dog a new trick’. Thus, however one wants to do things or which side you want to be on, you will do the same old things so it’s better WD swallow humble pie and learn from his past to avoid repeating the same mistakes. That’s the only way one can become a good leader. Otherwise you find yourself going around in circles until your time is up without achieving anything good to meet your plans for the people.   • Duma is not a Dumb but is one of the highly educated contemporary and seasoned Politician. The mountain boy has ridden on many high political tidal waves and knows how to land himself safely on the correct shorelines. So far, nobody has ever asked him to testify as to how he has accomplished the astonishing feats.
    As long as the current parliament term reigns, there will be no doomsday for Duma despite many sense of discontentment explicitly expressed by the public pertaining to his performance. That’s the position I have finally come to grasp.
    Ideally, It is only the Kanges as stated by yende who will decide whether he is entitled to serve another term beyond 2022 or not .What we can all do for now is please pray for Duma for his act of restitution to the parliament, his colleague MPs, his people and the country. The dimmed light in Duma can glow and reach out brightly only by the power of Yeshua our Messiah through our relentless prayers. May Yaweh our Anutu bless PNG

  • Most have been said of WD touching basis on his self pity confession as all people of this nation now knows who WD is and why he is branded as a yoyo politician. What about all the others who have also crossed the floor of parliament to join BN who was declared by the supreme Court as just a ordinary minister currently self promoting himself. Can they be man enough as WD to explain their moves to their people? I for one I’m eager to hear from Sir J Chan of New Ireland Province.

    • I agree with what you are saying about Julias Chan. He had his turn to lead years back. He is not a honest leader, why following ‘POP CORN’ BUNCH OF YOYOS, I salute all the Governors who stood with PMJM.Paias Wingti, what have achieved with Look North Policy? No wonder why Asians are overcrowding in WHP.

    Look at his explanations, blaming and shifting his excuses for being immature. Everyone knows people like Duma are after their own personal interest!!..His own City is in chaos…drug lords, drunkards, rapists, murders, and the likes..are roaming the town like their game park!…and the leader mandated to keep the 3rd biggest urban area safe and clean is out there playing “jokker man” and putting up “puppet shows” for the entire nation to watch and make fun of. What a shame!!!

  • Organic law and parliamentary standing orders….yu lawyer ya, masters yah, you shouldn’t be confused or shocked either, given your experience and 4th term as a politician…
