THERE will be no loss of employment when Eda Ranu and Water PNG merge in May, promises Public Enterprise and State Investment Minister William Duma.
Duma told The National that Cabinet had already approved the amendments to the National Water and Sewerage Act and the National Capital District Water and Sewerage Act. He said the amended legislations would be tabled in Parliament on May 7.
“But I want to reassure Water PNG and Eda Ranu employees that when the merge happens, no one will lose jobs,” he said.
“There may be changes to the board and senior management staff but for everyone else, we will retain you because we need your expertise and because we have plans to go nationwide.” The merger will result in the formation of Water PNG with one managing director.
“We will be bringing the Water PNG services to the 22 provinces in the country and at every district and town. So the merge will also create more job opportunities as we will recruit more people to go nationwide,” he said.
Meanwhile, Duma is excited about the recent ticketing partnership between Air Niugini and PNG Post saying the partnership would help to improve services.
“There will be no queues and faster services will be provided for both domestic and international ticketing services.”
