Duo accused of raping doctor appear in court

Two men accused of raping and robbing a medical doctor appeared at Bomana Committal Court last Friday.
Douglas Joseph Anaupa, 33, from Okapa in Eastern Highlands and Joe Bomai, 24, from Chuave in Chimbu allegedly broke into the house of the victim at 4-Mile, National Capital District, on July 1, stole valuables worth K7500 and raped her.
Magistrate Cosmas Bidar told the duo to find a lawyer and file submissions on sufficiency of evidence, when the matter returned to court.
Bomai and Anaupa told the court that they would be representing themselves and that they were working on their submissions.
Anaupa and Bomai who appeared from custody at Bomana prison were charged with rape, break, enter and stealing.
It was alleged that in the early hours of July 1, this year Anaupa, Bomai and eight other men broke into the house of the victim who is doctor.
The two accused will appear in court today.
