Duo bag doubles for Vitiaz

JONATHAN Allan and Mathew David netted doubles to help Vitiaz United beat Kutubu 4-1 in round 15 of the Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League in Port Moresby on Saturday.
Allan opened the scoring 10 minutes in, but Kutubu respond two minutes later with Sarufa Peter equalising for a 1-1 scoreline at halftime.
Kutubu, under acting coach Gina Sam, stepped up in the second half with Peter, Isome Kila and Obert Simon dominating possession for shots on goal.
A blunder by Kutubu goalkeeper Shane Wakala saw David score his first goal before Allan completed his double.
David then breached Kutubu defence to complete his double 10 minutes from fulltime. Meanwhile, Bougainville eased past the Tusbab Stallions with a 5-0 win.
The Stallions were unable to click in attack with Bougainville’s Elton opening the scoring for a 1-0 lead at halftime.
After the break, Bougainville’s Daniel Vetali netted a double, and Basil Jofari and Eaka Philemon scored a goal each to seal the match.
“I’m happy with the performance,” Bougainville head coach David Passam said.
“We started slow but we then picked up the pace. We concentrated more on defence and when we picked up from the midfield, everything started to go our way.”

  • Stallions management must have been out of their minds letting go of a couple of their top players. Now they’re on a downward spiral and very soon they will be at the bottom of the heap.
The onus is on Management to instill pride and ownership in the players to take pride in playing for their club and themselves. The inferior complex and mentality must be done away with. Madang cannot play second fiddle to the bigger clubs from the two cities forever.
Just food for thought that the Stallions management and coaching staff might like to consider…
