RETIRED United Kingdom police officers Mike Brown and Paul Morisetti are in the country to run programmes on leadership and management for members of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary.
The pair, from the UK College of Policing, are facilitators of the UK Pacific leadership programme which aims to develop the leadership and management skills of senior police managers in the Pacific and provide opportunities for learning that will lead to meaningful professional and organisational improvement.
This is the second programme in the country, the first one was held in Port Moresby a week ago.
The programme was funded under the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and is the follow-up of the leadership course delivered to the cadet officers last year.
The Port Moresby training programme involved police station commanders and officers in charge of crime units.
The programme is intended to develop management and leadership skills in two parts, one is to develop personal leadership and self-awareness and the other is to enhance
participants to be more effective strategic leaders within their organisations.
Brown is a former Police Commander of Cambridge and Morisetti was formerly the commander of police in Edinburgh, Scotland.
For many participants of the training, this was a once in a career opportunity to participate in a highly sought after leadership programme from a world-renowned police training institution.
