TWO public servants accused of misappropriation and conspiracy to defraud the state have been told to return to court next month because lawyers are still studying their files.

Lae District Court magistrate Posain Poloh yesterday told Dr Narayan Ghelot and Jimmy Imbok to return on June 28. Police alleged that the two misused K675,000 belonging to the PNG University of Technology between Jan 17, 2012 and Feb 4, 2013.

The money was public investment programme funds allocated to upgrade the university.

Ghelot was then head of the electrical engineering department at the university while Imbok was the bursar.

Defence lawyer Jimmy Gamoga asked the court for a 30-day adjournment to peruse the files.

Poloh agreed and adjourned the matter.

“I will adjourn but the files must be served today,” he told the prosecution.
