FOR two of the country’s athletes the London Olympics is over as Rayond Ovinou and Dika Toua failed to get past the first round of their competitions.
Judo representative in the men’s 66kg division, Ovinou’s Olympics lasted less than a minute at the ExCel Stadium as he was eliminted.
He lost to Armenian Armen Nazaryan.  Coach John Jambert put the loss down to a tactical error which gave Ovinou’s opponent the win.
Nazaryan was awarded the match after pinning Ovinou to the ground seconds after the pair engaged.
In her 53kg women’s weightlifting competition, Toua lifted 79kg in the snatch and 95kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 174kg. But this was well behind Vietnamese Thi Thuy Nguyen and China’s Yu Weili. Both lifted a total of 195kg in Group B.
Swimmer Ryan Pini will next compete when he swims the heats of the 100m butterfly on Thursday.
