DWU lecturer attends scholarship programme in US

PATRICK Matbob, a journalism lecturer from the Divine Word University in Madang, left this week for a six-week scholarship programme in the US.
According to the US Embassy in Port Moresby, Matbob would be on a scholars and secondary educators’ exchange programme on journalism and media. The programme at Ohio University started yesterday.
The institute is examining four aspects – media, ethics and society; legal frameworks for media freedoms; roles and responsibilities of journalism in a democracy and changing media business models in an era of technology change.
Matbob will observe local, national and international news organisations, discuss topics with working journalists and participate in  programme-focused exercises and projects.
He will also attend the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass communnication conference.
The programme will take Matbob to Minneapolis in Minniesota, Cleveland in Ohio, San Francisco in California, Atlanta in Georgia and Washington.
