DIVINE Word University (DWU) students donated clothes to the Madang Technical College male students who lost everything after their dormitory was gutted by fire two weeks ago.
Students filled two large bags and three large boxes full of clothes and collected K100 cash for the victims.
DWU SRC president Dennis Kitchnoge said the students had collected the clothes and money to show their concern over the Madang students’ loss.
“Madang has many tertiary institutions and it is important to help each other in times like this,” Mr Kitchnoge said.
Principal of Madang Technical College Yale Baguyau thanked the DWU students and encouraged the two institutions to continue to work together.
Dormitories at Madang Technical College, one of the oldest colleges in the country, were gutted by fire while staff and students were busy with their daily activities.
Students returning from their lectures were shocked to see smoke billowing from their dormitory.
The students alerted security and staff who immediately called the Madang Fire Service.
The cause of the fire is not known, investigations are still underway.
