Eagles, Bros face off

THE Brown Eagles and United Brothers face off at the Bisini Diamonds tomorrow in the National Softball Club Championship men’s grand final.
Their match was called off last week at the same venue by central umpire Moses Tolingling due to fading light after both were deadlocked 3-3 at the bottom of the seventh inning.
It will go down to the wire again with Brothers’ big game experience to test the might of a young and fearless Eagles unit.
Little could separate the Port Moresby Association clubs as they played out a stalemate on familiar territory after seeing off the best of what the country had to offer over the Independence weekend.
Both sides remain sharp fielding units — the Brothers guile and craft matching the Eagles athleticism and confidence — ensured that the final was not going to be a high scoring affair.
The brethren have in their dugout the likes of Tony Williams, Ora Gimi and Glen Niggins leading a capable line-up while for the Eagles, their strength lies in their youth and tenacity in the form of Tyron Paivu, Kojack Wosley and slugger Consie Lumaris.
In the women’s final, Port Moresby’s Bears beat Lae’s Manalos 4-2 to claim the title.
