PNG Power, the premiers in Port Moresby men’s softball must lift their game on Sunday as they face Brown Eagles in the 2.30pm encounter.
Key on the minds of the power men will be a win as it will elevate them up to top placing with Eagles and Dolphins.
Pitcher Danny Tovia understands his Matupit cousins so well that he could restrict Brown Eagles’ scoring chances from the pitching mound.
Coach Isikel Tovia knows the importance of the match and will be instructing his batters to bat for a vital victory.
Eagles, on the other hand, boast a good pitcher in Andrew Akuk, whose combination with catcher George Pukur, hold the key to either strike out the opposition batters or restrict them from advancing home to score easy points.
Their efforts, though, must be complemented with solid batting and minimising fielding errors which was the main cause of the Eagles downfall last weekend to United Brothers 5-0.
In the other matches, the Bears who are hovering in the middle of the competition ladder have a better chance to clear themselves to the top four if they can win their two matches, the first against Gazelle at 11.30am and then against Dolphins in the main match of the weekend at 4pm.
Despite their loss to Mantarays (8-12) last weekend, the Bears are a capable team to beat their opponents and they need to click with their batting, especially for the expected wins.
However, for the main match, Dolphins could be a tough assignment with pitcher Tony Williams expected to lead his team with his pitching variations that could see Dolphins win and shoot to the top of the competition ladder.
Gazelle have come under the association’s radar after two forfeits with  the second was last weekend.
