Eagles FC rewarded for season-long unbeaten run

EAGLES FC’s Norma Kisiray was named the best defender in the Ramu Sugar Soccer Association women’s grand final over the weekend.
The efforts of Kisiray and skipper Ruth Giada saw Eagles FC beating the Sugar Rutz 3-1 in a penalty shootout after the scores were locked at 1-1 at the end of regulation time.
The victory saw Eagles FC finishing the season unbeaten.
In the U20 men’s game, defending champions Eagles FC took on newcomers Marangam FC.
Marangam were the first to score and went into the break with a 1-0 lead. But after the break, Eagles equalised when midfielder Desmond Anaigri headed home from a free-kick.
With the clock winding down, Jacob Kikalem scored the winner to hand Marangam the title.
The main fixture saw minor premiers Marangam facing off with Eagles FC in a tight contest.
Both teams had their share possession but found difficulty scoring.
The first half was scoreless and the trend continued for most of the second until the Eagles handled the ball inside their penalty area with five minutes remaining.
Marangam made Eagles pay by scoring the winner to seal the men’s title.
