MT Hagen Eagles are aiming for their third win of the Digicel Cup season as they prepare to meet luckless Enga Mioks in round five in Port Moresby on Sunday (3.05pm kick-off).
After losing their opening two matches, the Eagles have found their footing, recording wins against heavyweights Rabaul Gurias (20-18) and Port Moresby Vipers (12-10).
The Eagles, under skipper and former SP Hunter Henry Wan, will be ready to unleash forwards Joshua Nani and Mosley Tika while No.6 Garry James takes charge of the backline.
Meanwhile, the winless Mioks remain in the bottom half of the 12-team ladder as one of two teams — including Goroka Lahanis — that are yet to register a win after four rounds.
Mioks coach Andiki Andrew said his side would need a mental adjustment if they were to record a win at the Oil Search National Football Stadium.
“There are some things I can’t do with them when they take the field for the 80 minutes, so it’s about preparing mentally.
“That’s something we will work on.
We’re still learning from our mistakes and trying to get ourselves right.”
Andrew will be looking to experienced campaigners Kot Kerua and Bernard Goma to lead his young Mioks outfit.
Meanwhile, Mendi Muruks will look to continue their unbeaten start when they meet cellar dwellers Lahanis for the opening match of Sunday’s Port Moresby double-header (1pm).
The Muruks, under coach Roderick Puname, enter the match as favourites as they look to keep pace with fellow unbeaten sides Lae Tigers and reigning premiers Hela Wigmen.
