JUST after the third round of the Australian Country Cricket Championships on Tuesday the East Asia Pacific (EAP) team maintained their sixth placing with five points by succumbing to a much-fancied New South Wales Country.
The New South Welshmen managed to outrun the EAP total of 173 by one run and claiming the game at 2 for 174.
Despite the high scoring efforts of one of the named ‘Top Gun’ of the tourney Assad Vala (39) and teammates Vani Morea and Loa Nou both on 25, the lads from the EAP did not score enough runs to exhaust the all fired NSW Country.
The NSW top order batsmen GA Batty (77), M Harvey (32) and J Cook on 27 not out easily took runs with the bat and clearly outclassed the EAP batting line-up after receiving a beating in round three from Western Australia Country.
Yesterday was taken off for a well-earned rest for the teams participating in the championships and will resume today with new plans and expectations.
The East Asia Pacific team will face a tough task when they take on Western Australia Country today in round five till tomorrow for a two-day match.
