EARLY Christmas gifts were given to more than 100 children at the paediatric children’s ward at the Port Moresby General Hospital yesterday.
Individuals and corporate sponsors turned out in one of the biggest early Christmas presentations for the children who would miss out having Christmas celebrations with their families.
Initiated by the Boroko Motors, FM 100 and Media Partners, a total of 42 sponsors, including Courts, Kwila Insurance, Trukai Industries and other individuals, joined for a motorcade to PMGH for the presentations.
According to Boroko Motors general manager Martyn Dawson, the partners hoped the ‘Give a gift appeal’ would continue to grow every year.
“It is the time of the year around the world where some children and adults would miss out to celebrate the festive season with families and friends because of health reasons.”
He said to reach out to those in need and to put a smile on their faces was such joy.
“I am very thankful to the other corporate and individual sponsors who took the time out to assist in the appeal.
“We are going to be involved next year and would like to also extend our partnership to others who wish to join,” he added.
Meanwhile, paediatric nurse coordinator Sr Gebing Tahu thanked the sponsors on behalf of PMGH board of management and staff.
