Early learning centre gets problem-solving kits

Education

CHILDREN enrolled at the Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) library learning centre at Papa village in Central, celebrated National Literacy Week with the launch of the programme’s new problem-solving kit.
Buk bilong Pikinini’s partnership with ExxonMobil PNG covers all aspects of education which include the establishment of the library learning centre, delivering BbP’s comprehensive early childhood development programme, donation of books to schools, literacy week sponsorship and training of teachers and community educators.
BbP founder and chair Anne-Sophie Hermann said: “Buk bilong Pikinini is excited to have had the opportunity this year to support our curriculum with all the fantastic teaching aids in the problem-solving kit.
“We believe that the kit will greatly motivate the children to engage in Stem (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and problem-solving activities and give them a good foundation in numeracy before starting school and we are grateful to ExxonMobil for the support.”
ExxonMobil managing director Andrew Barry said: “Thanks to Buk bilong Pikinini the focus on early childhood learning and library establishment has gained momentum over the last couple of years by creating a caring and supportive environment for children to learn.
“We all saw the creativity shown with our young robot builders together with the help of some of our volunteers from ExxonMobil.”
